Parting the curtain, the light fell upon her for the first time in a long while as she looked at the world that she had for so long avoided. Taking off her sweater, her bared shoulders reflected the glow of the light that defined her beautiful facial features and svelte arms and shapely figure, a light that somehow was like the new spirit that had awakened in her this morning, a light that made her realize that life was short, it was time to stop mourning, and it was time to get on with her life. Still young and capable with so much to offer in her remaining years, starting this moment, she would never waste another day nor another moment. Each day, she now realized, is a gift, a chance to love, a chance to show her appreciation for this precious gift called life that God had bestowed on her. Gone were the tears and sadness, the self pity and the turning inward. Standing erect she looked into the mirror for one moment longer before she left the house to start her new life.
