Dear Family and Friends, With your much needed help I will be traveling to China this summer. As some of you may know I have been chosen as a People to People Student Ambassador traveling to China. I will be traveling with a delegation of students my age, led by experienced teachers. For 50 years People to People has provided educational travel for students across the globe. This is a 17 day trip that will allow me to visit many of the historical sites of China that most of us only read about. Our route will take us through Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, Guilin, Suzhou, and Wuzhen. It’s going to be a whirlwind tour. I will even fulfill one of my all-time dreams of seeing a panda bear up close and personal. I am paying my own way and raising money for the program. My total trip cost is $8000. I currently still need $6430 by April 26, 2014. To date I have raised $1570. I’ve begun raising funds by doing snow removal, during Christmas I wrote Santa letters in exchange for donations, I am collecting old cell phones to be recycled, and I am available to help my local family and friends of the family organize and clean. I had planned additional fundraising efforts, however due to the recent events that have taken place within my immediate family it has been challenging. The money raised will go towards tuition cost and other expenses associated with this experience which include all travel expenses, meals, housing, and activities. I am currently working on completing my second semester as a freshman at Cass Technical High School in the Manufacturing and Engineering Curriculum. I am also dually enrolled which means aside from high school courses I am taking college courses on the weekend. I am currently holding a 3.5 GPA. My goal is to complete high school obtaining my diploma as well as my associates degree and go on to obtain my degree in electronic engineering and journalism becoming an electronic engineer and also using my writing talents in the journalism field.
