Pass your paper! Comically we remember this instruction when in - TopicsExpress

Pass your paper! Comically we remember this instruction when in school dating back Gods knows when and remember our strict adherence to a time period. Not a second more for some teachers who will disqualify our papers should we pursue to continue writing regardless of any reason. Put simply, when told, the test commences and absolutely with no extension. This is absolute rule! We submit to the very same phrase when God calls us ending our stay on earth, and not for a second more. Not to sound too churchee’ but this happens to be the truth especially in cases of sudden death be it an unforeseeable accident or an incurable decease. No matter the science be it for the future centuries, there is not much we can do to extend life as we know it unless you believe in the fountain of youth and stem cells but that would be another story. When God calls – it’s simple; you leave, period. Which now brings us to this article; with direct reference to rules, regulations and the law? How and why is it that we have become accustomed to bending them, if not breaking the laws knowing they were made with our participation (for the body-politic of course) to avoid tyranny and chaos. And yet for the many who are educated and worst with authority, there is the culture of impunity amongst us. Not even the courts can make the citizenry toe the line. As for the rich and powerful, the law is not carved in stone and made by man; meaning man can change these laws to suite them. The all-resourceful Pilipino or should we use the proper term, Filipino is above the law in cases where the law is disadvantageous. To my understanding the laws of the land pertain to all and not a few (as per Mayor Fred Lim, who having lost this past election) just maybe no longer applies. The President and the authorities are obviously above the law and the economy is dictated by the oligarchs who dictate to the judiciary and the legislative. Or maybe it is also the legislative that is the law by way of their dictatorial powers and financial authorities. We already know there is no such thing as a good dynasty and yet we are told by the law (pun intended) that there are good dynasts. We are either too stupid to realize this or too scared to throw them out. We have already had our people powers to no gain and are left to fend for ourselves. The media has become inutile serving the law (people/ authorities) and there is no longer public opinion. Alternatives no longer present themselves only to court disaster with adventurism. As for the incompetence, the ineffective authorities and department heads of government, the lawless and corrupt – we settle for a chaotic democracy where our streets no longer can accommodate our traffic, our rivers deluding communities, our farms no longer producing and infrastructure that is eroding. Should we be the ones to pass your paper or our leaders?
