TERHUNE ORCHARDS TO HOST THIRD ANNUAL SUSTAINABLE FARE FOR SUSTAINABLE JERSEY FARM-TO-TABLE FUNDRAISER BENEFIT JULY 31 Terhune Orchards is excited to host the third annual Sustainable Fare for Sustainable Jersey fundraiser to benefit Sustainable Jersey on July 31 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.. Renowned chefs from across the state will come together to celebrate the farm-to-table movement and promote awareness about sustainability efforts while raising money for Sustainable Jerseys programs. Sustainable Jersey has played a critical role in the progress many towns across the Garden State have made in advancing environmental stewardship and healthy communities, said Pam Mount, owner of Terhune Orchards and chairman of the Sustainable Jersey Board of Directors. The night will be a great celebration of local food and wonderful chefs who are known for their dedication to focusing on fresh local ingredients. The event has been a big hit the last two years and we are happy to be hosting it again at our farm. Guests will enjoy cocktails and a seven-course meal made from New Jersey sourced ingredients and paired with Terhune Orchards own award-winning wines. Live music will be performed by the popular Riverside Band, a local five-piece acoustic string group, throughout the meal. Diners will be treated to an overview of each course by the chef that prepared it, as well as an explanation of its wine pairing by Gary Mount of Terhune Orchards. and diners will be sent home with local produce grown right on the farm. Chefs who have generously volunteered their time for the event include: • Chris Albrecht - Executive Chef, Princeton • Dan Richer - Arturos, Maplewood • Robyn Reiss - A Toute Heure, Cranford • Scott Anderson - Elements/Mistral, Princeton • Gary Giberson - Sustainable Fare, Island Heights • Terry Strong - Mediterra, Princeton • Demetrios Haronis - FIN, Atlantic City • Gabby Carbone - The Bent Spoon, Princeton • Christine McGrath - Washington House, Basking Ridge The farm-to-table benefit will take place on July 31 at Terhune Orchards, which is located at 330 Cold Soil Road in Lawrenceville. Cocktails will be served starting at 5 p.m. and dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased at sustainablejersey. Sustainable Jersey, a non-profit, runs a certification program that empowers towns to build a better world for present and future generations. The program provides a roadmap towns can follow to initiate and promote sustainable actions that improve the quality of life. More than 410 towns have registered to become a part of the program and more than 130 towns are now certified.
