Passion for the Land Im a fish in my water. My water is the continent of Africa with different species (tribes) and realities. There are different waters (continents) in the world; each with its own uniqueness. Each habitat has its modes of survival. You cant put a fish that survives in the lagoon into the ocean of salt water without it dying. Will it survive? So why should I continue to run away from my own identity? It means Im paving the way for my own death. Can we take a good look at the world and question; where in the world do people desecrate their heritage, calling it evil and bad whilst saying everything or most things foreign is/are the best and will always save them? Where? This is the greatest challenge we combat today. As humans, we should learn from others and anything we learn goes a long way in shaping our mental reality so we must learn what will build us. If your house is bad, can someone like me who knows nothing about your family tell you about your house? How did someone who just came from Europe for his own purpose of exploitation say he brought salvation and civilisation? If my house is bad, Im the one to put it in order. Why do you say your people are evil because youre told by those who said they brought a belief and faith that would make you get closer to God but destroyed you on earth? Were they the ones who taught your people to build all what they built before their coming? So if your forefathers built things that were UNIQUE and GOLDEN; why cant you find it a pleasure to preserve the good ones? Why do you love it so much to dislike, hate and fight your own brother because hes seen the hypocrisy in some things? Not everything brought to us were good so stop acting as if messiahs came to Africa. Very few things were good. Yes! We have some things brought to us that are now useful. One of them is education BUT this same education is also another formidable tool of ensuring we remain mentally enslaved. Indoctrination. We find it a pleasure to learn foreign things than anything indigenous. We concentrate on solving problems that are more external than internal. Others re-branded education. Asians did it. Latin American countries did it. Do you know that the United States doesnt teach socialism or communism? Why? This could change the minds of some American students towards capitalism. That shows that everybody is preserving their ideology, belief and heritage through education. If we failed to re-brand our education to suit our own developmental innovation; we will only keep hovering around the mercury of stagnant backwardness.
