Passover beings this evening at sunset. Known as Pesach, this holiday is the first of the three major festivals, remembering the Exodus of ancient Israelites from Egypt after almost four hundred years of slavery. Pesach is observed for eight days, beginning with cleaning the house of all Chametz (leaven). The highlight of Pesach is the Seder (order) service, told at the dining table from a special book called the Haggada (narrative).
