Past few night, stayed up very, very late (actually early: around 7am) working on 1st two lessons/tests for Victory Bible Institute. Then only got 5 or so hours of sleep, so that I wouldnt waste all day sleeping. So, I should be zonked out tonight, but....wide awake! At our cabin, we are 300 off of a road which is medium-traveled; except at night. At night, 10 to 30 minutes may go by without a car. Absolutely quiet at night (except when tree frogs are in season). It was also absolutely black here (except when full moon made it look like twilight at night) at night until owner of rental cabin 3 lots down had town install one of those ultra bright sodium vapor lights on telephone pole. So, even 3 2/3rds lots down, it does lighten up the yard some which disappoints me. But still, it is dark & very quiet. Jean & I are usually busy with churchy things so I love this time of morning when its quiet & dark.. It is time to contemplate God, to be still & know that He is Who He is. Also, a great time to think about the life God has given us, the things weve been blessed to do. To use such untalented people like us to serve Him in ministries for 33yrs is beyond comprehension. In these 33yrs, weve been blessed to meet, without hyperbole, millions of brothers & sisters: in churches, classes weve taken, youth group & other youth groups our group did things with, bible studies, colleges where Ive taken courses, & one of our daughter attended, rallies, lectures, short-term missions where we also mingled with innumerable Christians in so many churches, etc. As we near the relative end of our lives, we are torn between two desires, as Apostle Paul was, to go to the House as many say in the South, or a great desire to do it all over again.
