Past two weeks, if youve seen my posts, I had the chance to work on a major production/show, Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. For me it was exactly the experience I needed to gain knowledge from a producers stand point because it is what I want to do. When I tell you there is a LOT of moving parts thats an understatement because I did a bunch of positions: ran wire/cables for audio & video, laid flooring, built an extended stage, slang bricks (counter weights), hung backdrops, unloaded trucks of wardrobe, built props, moved props and tonight I got to meet the production team and Rockettes. The preparation & work that goes into these shows are nothing short of amazing these people are from all different backgrounds from all over the united states and whats most impressive is we all are working together to pull off this production. I love to work with others that have a vision and passion for what they do, I was fortunate enough to link up with the union, I.A.T.S.E. Local 46, they allowed me the chance to prove myself and kept me as long as they did. Tonight I was told by our work foreman that I would be placed on call for fill ins for the show schedule and tear down, the only reason why I couldnt work the show full time is b/c I dont have my union card b/c you can only get it after youve worked a 100 days (im at 15..lol). Truth is I wished I couldve been an exception but I understand my place and the order of things, I need to simply put in more time and I will. I can scratch off another line on my bucket list and add this to the resume I am truly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to many more. #back2work #lafa4life
