Pastor Mikes Daily Devotion Sunday August 17, 2014 1 Corinthians 11:3, But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. The last part of this verse tells us that God has an order in what He does and what He plans to do. When Paul uses the word head here he is speaking of an authority that carries a responsibility for the purpose of leadership. Jesus is quoted in John 4:34 as telling His disciples that His food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Jesus was submitted to the completion of Gods plan of salvation. The Apostle Paul told us in Ephesians 6:6 that we are to be bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. We are to be submitted to the Lords plan for our lives for the purpose of the salvation of the lost. Paul seems to be answering a question that was presented to him asking him what is the roll of men and women in the church. Paul then lays out Gods pattern for leadership: The Father - Jesus Christ- men- woman. It is important to understand that when it comes to men and women each of our rolls are equal in importance but different in performance. We are not being told that men are superior to women in Gods sight, as a matter of fact the bible tells us that we are all one in Christ. It is Gods desire that men would take up the roll as the spiritual leaders of their households. God desires that they would embrace this responsibility in love, dedicated to Gods word, and moving forward in Christ. Jesus sets the example in His obedience to Gods plan of salvation. Are you being obedient to Gods order of responsibility in your life? Galatians 3:28, There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
