Pastors Moment: Let me encourage you today - Be patient and wait for your break. Keep doing what you must, be honest, plan and keep your eyes on the goal as long as you do what is true and right be patient am certain your break is coming. Hey there will be some or even many false starts, but you will get there. In 2002, I was fresh in the great city and was an ambitious First year, as I walked to discover Nairobi on my discovery from South B, I got to Argwings Kodhek road and I kept walking, I had walked for long but surprisingly it felt natural. As I got to Ole Odume on the last bend towards what today I know as Valley Arcade on the left and Methodist Church on the right, i saw an advert by accident - a certain office was looking for Interns. Nothing more was said. I walked right in and it turned out to be the Campaign Headquarters of the NARC campaign. I got a gentleman called Daniel Otunge who had been picked to head the Communication department of the campaign and I explained my story and he quickly told me to report the next day explaining they would not pay a salary, but that there would be an allowance of Shs. 1, 200 per day - Paid every evening. I smiled and told him, I walked all the way here, that money you are calling an allowance is a salary. What time do I report? That was the start of my entry into a political campaign and I enjoyed what a villager would only dream off chopper rides, centre stage at campaigns and really enjoyed the high pressure game that a campaign is. That was the first time i toured almost every single town in Kenya and though playing a reporting role and not strategy, I was excited. At one point in the campaign, NARC noticed that they did not have a Sports Campaign Policy and Dennis Onsarigo and Myself were asked to form a Narc Sports Campaign team and in a press Conference we unveiled the Narc Sports Policy. Suddenly we had become players in a big game that we knew nothing about. You can then imagine how excited I was when the results came and we had beaten the Kanu Candidate Uhuru Kenyatta. On the day Candidate Uhuru conceded, the late Alex Muriithi hosted a bonfire party for the campaign team at the Mwenge House Headquarters of the party and he came with letters of appointment to the now defunct Presidential Press Service (PPS) - The letter was on a NARC letter head. Sincerely this was now a fairly tale. I was over the moon. The next day, I borrowed a tie, wore my black trouser, borrowed an official shirt and bought a black coat and went To State House. At Gate A, i was told to go to Gate D after showing my letter of appointment - encouraged by the explanation by the guards, I walked and run towards my destination at the same time. The salary on my appointment letter was a cool 75,000, that was serious cash by all standards. At Gate D, Kijana, hiyo barua sio ya hapa, we do not recognize that letter, tumeambia hao wengine pia, Well..well..that was 2002- 2003. Being still and patient does not mean, jump to bed and moan, just do what you do and always aim at excellence, one day the flowers of your dream will blossom. Habakkuk 2:3: For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end [fulfillment]; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait [earnestly] for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day. God Bless You and Keep You
