Pat Coyne of Nashville tells how the super hit Rag Doll was conceived, recorded and released in a matter of hours and a few days as told to him by Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio now of Nashville. One of those amazing stories. I heard Bob Gaudio (proud Nashville resident) tell about how he wrote this song. He was on 10th Ave in NY, the red light is so long there many homeless/poor people will wash your window for a tip. He noticed these little hands washing his window, she couldnt quite reach across, she was a little girl 9yrs old, Bob said she looked so sad, he didnt have any change, just a $20 bill, so he gave her that. To this day her sad face in the mirror haunts him. He got to the studio and told the story, he and Bob Crewe wrote the song. They had to leave town on Monday, the only time they could record it was Sunday, none of the studios were open, so they recorded this song in the basement of a building in a demo studio, the engineer was a man who worked on the equipment, but never engineered before. They left town Monday and Crewe had it released on Wednesday. A SMASH hit. Rag Doll- Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons
