Patience Jonathan Promises To Continue Promoting Peace As She Attends Anti- Amaechi Lawmaker’s Wedding Wife of the president, Dame Patience Jonathan on Saturday assured that she would continue to promote peaceful co-existence among the people of Rivers State. Mrs Jonathan said this in Port Harcourt at the wedding reception of a member of the state House of Assembly, Hon Evans Bapakaye Bipialaka, noting that the divisive coinage of upland and Riverine people no longer existed. The Nigerian First Lady’s visit compounded the traffic situation in the Rivers State capital, as several roads leading to the venue of the wedding reception and the church service were blocked by security operatives. Motorists were stranded as most of them residing around the area of the events were forced to abandon their vehicles and trek home. At the ceremony, Mrs Jonathan commended the Minister of State for Education, Mr Nyesom Wike, noting that he made her come to the state. She further commended the Minister for the rousing reception accorded her, adding that she had never been so honoured. The groom, Hon Bipialaka, who happened to be one of the five anti-Governor Chibuike Amaechi lawmakers in the state House of Assembly, was reportedly a former aide to Mrs Jonathan. Rivers State government was represented at the occasion by the deputy governor, Engr Tele Ikiru.
