Patience to Wait Psalms 62:1-2 I wait quietly before God, for my salvation comes from him. 2 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. NLT Did you know in today’s society we live in a fast pace world? To where people don’t have the patient to wait in line at the grocery store, Movie Theater, waiting room of the doctor office, hospital, and drive-through for food or any other line. Bottom line nobody in our society likes to wait, it seems. When we take something to the Lord in prayer, we bring our impatience with us. We often make a request and expect an answer right away. If God doesn’t move into action by our time clock immediately, many people begin to think, Well, I tried praying, but the Lord just didn’t do anything. Does prayer really work? What a question to ask and a mindset to have. Compare that attitude to King David’s. When David was only 16 years of age, God sent the prophet Samuel to anoint him as the king. Sixteen more years would pass by before that promise was fulfilled. What did David do during that time? Did he complain, morn and groan, shaking his finger at the Lord and demanding his kingship now? Absolutely not, David understood that God was trustworthy. He also realized that his heavenly Father was the God not only of who and what, but also of when and how. David wanted the kingship only when the Lord was ready for him to have it. So he had patients to wait. Keys for thought 1. Know that it’s never wrong to be patient and wait on the Lord. 2. Ask the Lord for patient to wait on Him, just as you would wait in line for the bank teller to call you up next. 3. Like King David, trusted in the Lord’s timing and provision. 4. The Lord knows every aspect of your life and situation, and His “delay” is in your best interest and working for your good (Romans 8:28). I encourage you to read these scriptures.
