Patient Question: I am concerned about radiation with the use of x-rays, are they necessary? My answer: I completely understand where youre coming from. We take the issue seriously so we use shielding, and settings that give us the clearest picture of the spine with the minimum radiation dose. While I cannot see you if I do not take x-rays, I do want you to know that the amount of radiation you would get exposed to with these x-rays would be the same as taking a flight from New York to Florida. Its not nothing, but its very low Side-note: I would like to thank Dr. Chung, a expert in upper cervical (neck) structural x-rays for his insight.
