Patils entry adds colour to Lok Sabha contest • Young leader feels he will create history, emerge winner Aurangabad, March 24 Nitin Patil, a young and enterprising former MLA from Kannad, will be the Congress party candidate from Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency. Patils nomination has ensured tough fight from this seat. Congress gave chance to a new face in Patil when it announced his candidature this evening. Patil is spotless and has relatives based all over the district. He is an acceptable face in all sections of society. He has contacts all over the district through his participation in cooperative movement. His tenure as Kannad MLA proved beneficial for the development of Kannad constituency. In the past elections, Kannad assembly segment has provided lead to MP Chandrakant Khaire. Due to Nitin Patils candidature, his lead is likely to be cut considerably. Moreover, former Shiv Sena MLA Namdev Pawar has now joined Congress which will also prove beneficial for Nitin Patil. Speaking to Lokmat Times, Nitin Patil said, I have been given an opportunity to bring about development of the district by Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, chief minister Prithviraj Chavan and guardian minister Balasaheb Thorat. I am sure that I would be able to vindicate the faith party has imposed in me. Nationalist Congress party, our alliance partner, is also solidly behind me. I am going to seek blessing of senior party leader Uttamsinh Pawar. I am confident of changing history of this constituency. Suave Patil has a strong rural background. He has good image among Muslims, Marathas and other sections of society. His young age is also likely to stand him in good stead. If Shantigiri Maharaj does not support Maharashtra Navnirman Sena candidate, Patil is likely to gain lead in Vaijapur and Gangapur tehsils.
