Patna: Medanta Medicity, the most popular brand of Hospitals in India would soon open a Heart Hospital Inside Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, IGIMS Patna. The Medanta Center for Heart would lie within the IGIMS Campus but function independently as per reports. The Heart Department of IGIMS Patna would keep continuing as usual. This has led to opposition from several group of Doctors in Patna who fear that this would have severe impact on the the present Heart Deptt of IGIMS. Last year Medanta opened a Neurocare Out- Patient Department, OPD at Patna. The facility is at Jagdish Memorial Hospital at Kankarbagh. Dr. Karanjit Singh Narang, a consultant neurosurgeon at Medanta conducts OPD here on every Second Saturday of the month. Advanced techniques like radio surgery, endoscopic surgery and frameless stereotaxy are used at the OPD here. Medanta Medicity is a large multi-specialty medical institute located in Gurgaon in the National Capital Region of India. It was established in 2009, with cardiac surgeon, Naresh Trehan as its chairman and managing director. Medanta spreads across 43 acres (17 ha), and includes a research center and medical and nursing school. It has 1,250 beds and over 350 critical care beds, with 45 operation theatres catering to over 20 specialties.
