Patreon gets legit -- raises $15M in VC! I am a huge supporter of Patreon -- a site that enables fans to support their artists directly, by pledging a sustainable amount either monthly or per project. Patreon takes only a 5% cut, which is minimal compared to the 30% to 70% taken by other middlemen agencies, especially music-related ones. Founded by musician Jack Conte, Patreon grew slowly for about a year. But recently, helped by the sign-up of massively popular Pentatonix, Patreons growth has gone exponential.
