Patrice Evra to be offered one-year deal at Manchester United New contract would warn off PSG and Monaco Manchester United are set to offer Patrice Evra a new one-year contract, according to the Daily Express. The French defenders current deal is set to expire at the end of the season and there is plenty of interest coming from his home country in the shape of cash-rich duo AS Monaco, his former club, and Paris Saint-Germain. Evra has established himself as Uniteds first choice left-back since arriving at Old Trafford in 2006 but, at 32-years-old, there had been suggestions that he might not be offered a new deal. Manager David Moyes tried to sign Leighton Baines from his former club Everton after taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer but to no avail. Now that Baines himself has committed his future to the Toffees, Moyes didnt want to lose his existing man for free in the summer. The Red Devils have also been linked numerous times for Southamptons highly rated 18-year-old left-back Luke Shaw. However, the fees of over £20 million being quoted for Shaw could put Moyes off the idea of making a bid for the youngster. It looks as though there will be a dramatic overhaul at United this year following a, so far, highly unsatisfactory year. After winning the Premier League under Ferguson last year, Moyes has struggled to replicate the success and the side are seventh in the table. Evra has played a key-part this year, but it seems as though he will be given another chance to expand upon his United medal collection next year having already won five Premier League titles along with the Champions League. If he is offered a contract, Evra will become the second Red Devils star to straighten out his future in the space of a few days after Wayne Rooney pledged his long-term future to the club yesterday.
