Pats Cafe is a local family owned restaurant. Some folks from up north were passing through town recently and stopped for breakfast. From the booth behind me, I overheard one of them ask the waitress, What are grits? The waitress tried her best to explain and then asked the hungry traveler if she would like to order some. The lady replied, Well, I guess I could try one. It reminded me of the time I was tired, hungry and traveling. I saw a bill board advertising gas, barbecue, souvenirs and Beanie Babies at the next exit. I pulled in, filled up my car and went into the store to stretch my legs and get some food. I told the woman behind the counter, Ill take a barbecue sandwich and an order of Beanie Babies to go. With an amused look on her face, she pointed down at the showcase filled with a bunch of odd looking dolls and said, Uhhh, those are Beanie Babies. I said, Ill just take the sandwich. Yankees are not the only travelers that say dumb stuff.
