Patsy Stinchfield, director of Infection Prevention and Control and the Childrens Immunization Project at Childrens, spoke to the The New York Times about the severity of the latest #measles outbreak, which began in Disneyland. The measles virus, declared eliminated by the U.S. 15 years ago, infects 90 percent of unvaccinated people who come in contact with it. The virus is transmitted through a sneeze or cough and can live in air droplets for two hours after an infected person has left the room, exposing everyone who enters during that time frame.
