Paul Freebody As disappointing as the Aquis delay is, not only to the applicant but to the community ,it is important that the Applicant/ state Government be allowed to work through the issues without everybody getting hysterical . The QLD Gov has worked in a positive manner in regards to the Aquis proposal and should be congratulated for this. This type and size of investment does not happen often in Australia, let alone in a City like Cairns! Hence, any hurdles need to be minimized to encourage investment without risking the due diligence process, The last thing we want is people pointing fingers and taking away from the excitement this project has and will generate in the future. I am encourage by the latest comments from all parties about working together to get to the line in the sand date being the 31st of March at which time Aquis and the Fung Family will know if it has been successful with its expressions of interest on the Casino license. It would be hard to think that there are many organization able to take on a project of this size and deliver it. We SHOULD also recognize the huge investment in time, money and not to forget risk made by the Fung Family. This maybe what entrepreneurs do, however, this bold project deserves strong positive recognition by the community ,as even with the acknowledgement of possible delays, Aquis continues to invest heavily with out having any guarantees of success. In my view this project will and should happen for the greater need and interest of the region, albeit the the minority wont agree, In saying all of the above,the minioity still have a right of free voice ,in which many Australians died to give us, even through this right is sometimes taken for granted.
