Paul Lewis Tyler 6/18/70-4/20/14 On April 20th I lost my dear friend, fellow musician and one of the best guys I know, to a long battle with a rare form of cancer. He leaves behind a loving wife, a young son and many friends. Paul & I were close friends. I respected the way Paul dealt with his illness so much. He was so honest & courageous and wanted me to know, upfront when we started making music, that he had cancer and might not be able to commit to a long-term business & music relationship. I told him that I’d take my chances. That was about 6 years ago & I never regretted that choice. We had great fun recording “COVERING LIFE” with one of his idols and my friend & band mate Ricky Fataar along with Marc Levine. Over many cups of coffee he & I had in our local town, Paul expressed his concern for his family and the possibility of not being around to watch Noah grow up and to miss growing old with the love of his life, Lisa. I assured him that these were worries that he could put aside. In the back of my mind though, when I asked Paul to play guitar & sing with me on “COVERING LIFE”, I had the idea that in the event of his death, the CD could be used to benefit his young son Noah’s college education. It was with deep sorrow that I learned of his passing late Easter night. In memory of my friend Paul, I have set up a fund for Noah and 100% of the proceeds of “COVERING LIFE” will go directly into “The Noah Tyler College Fund”. Eventually I will be gathering many of his other musician friends for the benefit concert that I never thought we’d need to plan. And we will do it with happiness & gratitude for knowing such a fine man. Please keep an eye out for more information about the concert. For now, I wish Paul’s family the comfort of leaning on true friends and I thank God that Paul is no longer suffering. God speed Paul Tyler. You will not be forgotten.
