Paul Rieckhoff Stated: Saw an advanced screening of American - TopicsExpress

Paul Rieckhoff Stated: Saw an advanced screening of American Sniper last night. Its an instant classic war movie. And the defining film of the Iraq war so far. Its for Iraq what Platoon and Full Metal Jacket were for Vietnam. Its soaringly heroic and terribly tragic. Just like the war. Its also a beautiful, everlasting tribute to one of the greatest warriors of our time. RIP, The Legend, Chris Kyle. Its simplified a bit of course, as movies have to be. But it still brilliantly captures the magnitude of the awful choices that faced every servicemember in Iraq. It shows whats inside our heads. Like the scene I wrote in Chasing Ghosts about how it feels to stand guard at an checkpoint in Iraq. The sound mixing and audio are perfect throughout. They really nailed that piece--which makes it all come together so intimately and realistically. Bradley Cooper is truly genius as Chris Kyle and should definitely get an Oscar nom. Sienna Miller probably should too. Clint Eastwoods thoughtful fingerprints are everywhere--and essential. And as a GIBill recipient himself, theres no better example of #VetsRising. In the end, American Sniper is absolutely outstanding. The best vehicle yet to say all the things we cant say ourselves. Stay tuned if we can get early screenings for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America and check out the trailer: https://youtube/watch?v=99k3u9ay1gs
