Drawing inspiration from his favorite artists as a youth, Rodgers is performing the reimagined blues inspired tunes. Appearing on the album are hits such as I thank you, originally performed by Sam & Dave, and I cant stand the rain from Ann Pebbles. Rodgers, or Bad Company and Free fame, worked at the Royal Studios in Memphis, Tennessee to produce The Royal Sessions. I was so honored that they would accept me into their family, Rodgers said. There was a moment where I had to prove myself. Born in England, Rodgers was distanced from the Americana integration of the blues movement. When I heard Otis Redding sing, it really touched something deep inside, Rodgers said. There was a real blues boom in the U.K. We kind of put our own spin on it, without knowing we were doing that. Blues continue to be a contributing factor in todays music and Rodgers has his opinions on why the music is so enduring. It definitely comes from the heart, comes from the spirit, Rodgers said. Thats where music should come from. (KUSA-TV © 2014 Multimedia Holdings Corporation)
