Paul Scholes has revealed Sir Alex Fergusons meticulous matchday preparation, and lauded his ability to make the preliminary rounds of the FA Cup feel like the World Cup Final. In his column for the Evening Standard, Scholes had no hesitation in describing Fergusons routine to rouse and motivate his squad ahead of a competitive fixture. Scholes said: On matchdays at Old Trafford, we would arrive about 12:30pm. Between then and 1:30pm Sir Alex Ferguson would see players individually in his office. Sometimes it was to tell them that they werent playing. Sometimes it was to tell them he had a specific role in mind for them. A team meeting would then follow, including ten minutes worth of video analyses of their opponents and a speech from Sir Alex. He had an ability to make even the smaller games, the early rounds of the FA Cup, the league games against lower placed sides, feel like the World Cup final. He got inside your head, he got you going. However, it wasnt all motivational talks and discussions about trust and tactics - Scholes said there was the odd occasion when Sir Alex would bark out a sentence and leave. There were those very few occasions, not usually the big games, when we would be waiting for him and he would come in, looking angry. Just go out there and beat this team he would bark and walk out. One sentence and then gone. #Adz
