Paul beginning at Romans 7, wrote about how the law works in the life of a Hebrew before he was saved. Through the law, his conscience is attuned to the sinful influences that worked with him, convicting and sentencing him at the same time. This is the full effect of the law (10 commandments) in the life of an Israelite. Romans 7:5 5 For when we were in the flesh (unsaved), the passions of sin were working in our members through the Law for the bearing of fruit unto death. (LITV) It is IMPORTANT that readers do not stop at verse 5 and arrive at the conclusion that the law brings about sin or as some antinomian preachers insist that it promotes sin. After verse 5, Paul defended the 10 commandment by repeatedly highlighting that the 10 commandments confirms the presence of SIN IN MAN and it DOES NOT PRODUCE SIN ON ITS OWN! And in verse 22, Paul made a very IMPORTANT statement which brought to ATTENTION the actual law that produces sin in man. It is THE LAW OF SIN which is also the willful sin nature of man. Romans 7:22-23 22 For I delight in the Law of God according to the inward man; 23 but I see ANOTHER LAW IN MY MEMBERS having warred against the LAW OF MY MIND (10 commandments), and taking me captive by the law of sin being in my members. (LITV) Paul made an indisputable statement that IT IS the LAW OF SIN inside of man that produces all kinds of unrighteousness. It is also important to note that Paul himself DELIGHTS in the 10 commandments because he understood it to be Gods righteous way of life for EVERYONE. Paul clearly expressed his frustration in NOT being able to please God in His ways because of the law of sin within him. But in Romans 8:1, he rejoiced because of the gift of no comdemnation through the forgiveness of sin in Jesus Christ. What the Mosiac Law could not do for him in terms of living a life pleasing to God, the gift of no condemnation and the life in the Spirit could and did. Dear believers, The law of the Spirit of life is NOT apart from the 10 commandments but rather, it is FOR the 10 commandments. Think of it as an Israelite being dead to the Mosiac law and married to the Law Giver. And through this spiritual union, he adopts His law as his way of life, and living it out through the empowerment and guidance of the Holy Spirit; the law of the Spirit of life. To anyone reading this post who have believed a lie that the 10 commandments has been made irrelevent to a New Creation in Christ, please pick up your bible and read it for yourself. Stop bashing the 10 commandments and come out of Babylon, among those who conspire against God and His law; against the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen! Romans 8:8-15 8 And those being in the flesh are not able to please God. 9 But you are not in flesh, but in Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone has not the Spirit of Christ, this one is not His. 10 But if Christ is in you, the body indeed is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of the One having raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the One having raised the Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies live through the indwelling of His Spirit in you. 12 So, then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to flesh, 13 for if you live according to flesh, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the practices of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery again to fear, but you received a Spirit of adoption by which we cry, Abba! Father! (LITV)
