Paul had a good night. They are gradually weaning him off the sedative, so he was a little more alert when we arrived this morning. Still a little out of it, but he looked at me almost immediately when I spoke to him, whereas yesterday he struggled to figure out where the voice was coming from. He shook his head no to a couple different questions I asked him but didnt respond to everything. Hes had his eyes open quite a bit but continues to doze off and on for the most part. He still has the drainage tube in for the fluid around his right lung but I dont know how much longer that will be. Im not a person who asks a lot of questions, preferring to let the Drs and nurses do their thing and trusting them. Hes not the only patient they have, so I dont want to tie them up. I understand I have the right to ask all the questions I want, but I tend to stick to the most important ones, ya know? Anyway, the next 2 goals are to get him off the sedative so hes more coherent, and getting him off the ventilator, but no one can give me an estimated time on when either of those will happen. Thanks again for all your prayers and well wishes. I know theyre making all the difference.
