Paul instructs fathers not to provoke their children to wrath lest - TopicsExpress

Paul instructs fathers not to provoke their children to wrath lest they be discouraged. There are times when I see my children look at me with a certain expression that says blatantly: Daddy I need your approval! I dont know of anything that affirms a child more than the approval of a parent. When I was only 14 years old, I had spent a week away from home at a summer church camp. A few weeks later my Dad was preaching at our church. Apparently someone in the church had asked him if he was concerned that I was so far from home at such a young age. He responded to this encounter as he preached that day. Someone asked me if I am worried about Brian when he is gone to camp- no I am not worried because I trust him! As I grew older I cherished those words of affirmation. I was only 10 years old when my Dad left for a week to travel on a mission trip. Before he left, he told me that I was the man of the house until he returned! Think about that! The man of the house at 10 years old! As I proudly recall these memories, I am convinced that many children today are not as lazy, irresponsible, or ignorant as they may appear! Perhaps it is possible that deep inside that aloof boy or that sullen girl is a heart that just needs to hear the words: I believe in you! Moms and Dads: I challenge you! Encourage your children! Inspire them to dream! Beware of words that will crush their spirits and damper their passions!!
