Paul says in Romans that sin was not counted from Adam to Moses - TopicsExpress

Paul says in Romans that sin was not counted from Adam to Moses because there was no law. This is a curious statement, because it seems clear that there were in fact commandments given to the patriarchs, and there was in fact judgment that took place from Adam to Moses. So whats going on? I think part of Pauls broader argument is that the election of Israel and the gift of the Torah was part of Gods trick on the Serpent. Gods intent from the beginning was to cull out a holy seed which would be the foundation for the renewal of the world, and God finds that seed in the Apostles and the firstfruits Church. But there was another mission that took place through the Torah. Just as the holy seed matured into what God had called humanity to be, there was a mystery Babylon growing up in the midst of Israel (Zechariah 5:5-11) which had become worse and worse. That comes to its climax in apostate Jerusalem, destroyed in the year 70. God was turning this wicked seed to his purposes as well- Satan would use their presence to bring accusations before God. And then he would accuse the one-man-Israel, the Messiah. That accusation would be his own destruction. The key, then, is that the Sabbath was reinstated with the Sinai covenant. On the Sabbath Day, Adam was meant to bring God a Tribute of Bread from the world, and God would come down and eat with him at the Tree of Life. Gradually, Adams Tributes would grow and develop as humanity matured and the world matured along with him. In other words, the correspondence of the Sinai covenant with the Adamic covenant is in the fact of human maturation. The election of Israel and the Sinai covenant allowed for the creation of the double seed line, with one line maturing upwards, climaxing in the Theotokos, and allowing for the incarnation. The other line matured downwards, climaxing in their murder of Christ on the Cross and the Church in the years 30-70. Both accomplish Gods purposes.
