Paying tribute today to Larry Henley, former lead singer of the Newbeats and a first class songwriter (and very nice guy) who passed away on Thursday at the age of 77. I know the Newbeats are pop Marmite to most people and although i love their records they have no place here. I actually wanted to post up the wonderful version of Ill Come Running Back To You that he cut for Capricorn in the mid 70s but it isnt on YT. Instead Ill remember Larry on S&DS by the great song that he and Red Lane wrote for Tammy Wynette, and that Bettye Swann sang the bejabbers out of a few months after Ms. Tammy took it to the top of the US Country charts...
