Peace, Great National Night Out w/Shiloh Baptist Church. As - TopicsExpress

Peace, Great National Night Out w/Shiloh Baptist Church. As the Outreach Coordinator I have spoken with Pastor Armstrong and kept it simple. Our focus and work cant be ABROAD until we take care of HOME. I have gotten his word that we will walk, talk and resurrect life on Spring, Calhoun, Church, Bellevue and Passaic St. U do so by teaching others to SEE the best in themselves and then providing resources so they can BUILD and BE their best. Tonight WE fed over 300 people, yet even more importantly was the MENTAL FOOD that was shared through conversations. I taught the Babies, Parents and Elders about our 2 community centers and the opportunities there. We discussed resume writing, job and career searches, job preparation, vocational training, and what their GOALS were. One of the things people think is that because people live in POVERTY that they dont care, or they dont desire better. No, they sadly think better isnt tangible at times and they settle into survival mode because thats the norm. We discussed better and that it doesnt have a delivery service, it requires DAILY work, sacrifice and their complete participation. Another barrier in POVERTY based communities is entitlement. Systems are put in place to make U think someone OWES U, or will give U something. No, we discussed tonight if we dont work, sacrifice and make it happen it wont happen. Last, we discussed Planned Parenthood. This isnt the BUILDING or the services provided there, this is about PERSONAL RESPONSIBILTY. I kept it simple for the Babies, I made a simple statement. If U LIVE with your parents, and they PROVIDE your food, clothing and shelter we do NOT need U to PRODUCE another U right now. Plan your now, prepare for your now and make your now......no excuses. Salute to the Elder George Bradley for his work on the grill and his love for his community. U dont rebuild a city by condemning people, U do it by pouring love and helping them.....help themselves. But avoid foolish and old wives tales(fables), and EXERCISE yourself into godliness. 1 Timothy 4:7. U ready to EXERCISE your greatness.... Peace!
