Peace & Hope: A Gift From the Children of Syria to the World tells the story of Syrian children displaced by over 3 years of conflict.#RestoreHappy October 23-27, the original artworks of over 1,000 Syrian children/youth from Zaatari Refugee camp in Jordan are being displayed on the iconic National Mall in Washington DC. The 536 meters long canvas tells a story of hope. One of resilience. Of determination. Of a brighter future. US Special Envoy for Syria, Daniel Rubinstein, said in opening remarks at the event ribbon cutting: “Events such as these remind me that while children are the most innocent victims of conflict, they also have a real role to play in the resolution of conflicts over time. Children that learn the values of freedom, tolerance and pluralism today will grow, and many will become leaders… Fortunately, the vibrant mosaic of Syria that my family came to know and cherish during our service at the U.S. Embassy in Damascus gives me great confidence that – despite all the violence -- coexistence and pluralism are an inherent part of the country that no force has succeeded in obliterating throughout Syria’s -- or Bilad al Sham’s -- long and remarkable history.”
