Peaceful, thoughtful, introspective night ... Looking towards the coming year while thinking back on some of the more memorable times and people in my life. Excited to finally be pulling myself out of the pit of whatever has been holding me down to launch my Suzys Catnip Cuddlies page and making plans for more. Still, there are those things from the past which not only cause me some degree of sadness, but for many reasons, they also give me strength. One such person and event was Jimmie Spheeris, and my finally getting to meet him, quite as a fluke. We horribly lost Jimmie from this world far too soon due to a drunk driver back in 1984, just a short while after we became friends. He had just left a recording session and was headed home, happy, looking forward to a bright future. He never knew how quickly life could change. None of us did. I got to meet Jimmie one night when I was a DJ at a local bar in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I adored his music, but there was no one to take my place the night he came to town. Imagine my surprise when my dear friend, and former assistant manager and movie theatre projectionist, Larry Woods, knocked on my booth door, and introduced me to Jimmie. Larry was working in Las Vegas for Siegfried and Roy at the time doing their lights and sound, but I did not know they knew one another. Jimmie and I became friends, sitting for hours discussing Ron Hubbard (oddly enough), the stars, our world, and life in general. He was a gentle, dear soul ... and he is so very missed. I find myself sitting here, listening to his music, finding the strength to work on what I love again, and knowing he would be expressing words of encouragement as only he could, and with that great smile and voice of his.
