Peacock (2010 Plot: Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Susan Sarandon star in this psychological thriller about a man with a split personality disorder. Shy bank employee John Skillpa (Murphy) lives in the small community of Peacock, Nebraska. Following a traumatic childhood experience, he suffers from dissociative identity disorder with his alter ego being a woman called Emma. He manages to keep his problem a secret until one day, while Emma is out in the garden, a derailed train crashes onto Johns land. His neighbours rush to the scene of the accident and meet Emma for the first time. When questions are asked, John declares that Emma is his wife but now that the townspeople know of her existence it becomes much harder to keep the truth about her identity from them. To make matters worse, young, single mother Maggie (Page) ignites an internal battle in John and Emma that becomes ever more present. Will she take over John completely? Review: I didnt really enjoy this movie. I just couldnt come to terms with the fact that no one knew that the the main character was a man who dressed up as a woman. Anyway, Cillian Murphy put in a good performance, even though he doesnt say that much throughout the movie, and Ellen Page and Susan Sarandon played great cameos. The whole pace of the movie is pretty slow and it does seem to drag. Your hoping that something will happened that will pick up the pace and change the direction of the plot, but it stays in the same mood throughout. Its a strange storyline which doesnt really have any sense or morals which was why I did fall asleep a couple of times. In all, its watchable but not that great. Round-Up: This is the second movie that I have seen with Cillian Murphy dressing up as a woman, which is a bit strange. He does pull of a woman quite well and his weird acting style suited the character well. Not anyone could have played this part. I didnt really see the whole point with the film of what message the director was trying to get across, and there isnt a explain action with why the main character has lost the plot. The ending was a bit abrupt and strange which made me wonder why the director went in that direction. In other words, it wasnt the greatest of movies. I recommend this movie to people who are into there deep dramas about a man who has a split personality. 3/10
