Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder went on a rant at one of his concerts - TopicsExpress

Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder went on a rant at one of his concerts that many have interpreted as being anti-Israeli. He doesn’t directly mention the nation currently at war with terrorist group Hamas, but the general consensus is that it’s the only country that fit his comments. After a general anti-war rant, he continues, “I get if war is the last resort… but I swear to f—ing god, there are people out there who are looking for a reason to kill.” He then described these villains as “looking for a reason to go across borders and take over land that doesn’t belong to them. They should get the f—out, and mind their own f—ing business.” Finally, he announces that he’s going to commit tax fraud until all war ends: “We don’t want to give them our money. We don’t want to give them our taxes to drop bombs on children.” As of the publishing of this post, war seems not to have abated around the world, despite Vedder’s critique. It’s one thing to condemn war in general, it’s another to acknowledge there are aggressors in all conflicts, and they need to be stopped by more than clever song lyrics or on stage diatribes. Evil men are only stopped by forces who fight for the right cause – such as freeing innocent people from the violence of murderous madmen like Saddam Hussein and the Taliban. Just like the U.S. military did, and like the Israeli military is trying to do versus Hamas.
