Pearl River Valley Electric Power Association (PRVEPA) crews have completed work restoring service to all residential member-consumers who can receive it in the wake of the devastating tornado that struck the Columbia area Tuesday. Crews from throughout Mississippi assisted PRVEPA employees with the effort, beginning work at daybreak today to finish rebuilding from the extensive damage caused by the storm. More than 200 linemen and support personnel began work at daybreak Christmas Day in an effort to complete the restoration. The storm initially affected service to 4,100 members, with approximately 450 member-consumers remaining without power this morning. “We very much appreciate the patience of those members affected by this storm,” Randy Wallace, PRVEPA’s general manager, said. “We know it has been a difficult Christmas for many in our area, and we are grateful for the efforts of all of our employees and extra crews who were willing to be away from their families on Christmas to restore service quickly and safely. This was a difficult job and they performed with their usual dedication and professionalism.” Any members who are able to receive service and do not have it should call Pearl River Valley Electric’s automated number (855-2PRVEPA) to report their outage. Pearl River Valley Electric Power Association serves more than 47,000 member-consumers in parts of 12 counties in south Mississippi.
