Pediatricians’ shortage hits govt hospitals in Byo: The government is considering offering attractive packages to some selected medical experts in an effort to lure pediatricians to Bulawayo’s major hospitals Mpilo and UBH where there are acute shortages. Zimbabwe is in danger of failing to achieve millennium development goal number 4 of reducing child mortality ratio by half with indications shortages of pediatricians in Bulawayo has reached a crisis point. Mpilo hospital which is a referral centre for the whole southern region has only three pediatricians while UBH is operating without a pediatric unit.
