Peel united 1 East Perth FC 6 East Perth know like bayswater do that both teams are still in the driving seat to win the reserve title and both have to keep winning to take the honours, with two games left and both East Perth FC and Bayswater level on points at the top of the league and both facing the prospect of facing each other on the last day of the season. East Perth travelled to Mandurah to face Peel united knowing that a tough game laid ahead!, in the two previous games East Perth have found Peel tough opponents coming out 2-0 winners at home, and snatching a last minute equaliser to get the draw away from home. To the game: In the opening stages East Perth looked the stronger of the two sides but it took them almost 20 minutes to break the deadlock, When they did It was the Dave show. David Murtagh out muscled his marker to whip the ball in to find Dave at the back post who flung himself at the ball heading it past the flapping keeper. It took East Perth a minute to add another to the scoresheet. Straight from the Peel kick off East Perth pressured the defence into a misplaced pass that landed at centre half Declan Healys feet, his quick thinking saw him find Alan Harding in space who quickly threaded an elegant through ball into Jimmy to calmly slotted home past the slightly out of shape keeper into the bottom corner. A counter attack move and goal that could grace the premier league. Half time East Perth went into the break knowing the importance of the next goal, if they scored, then a cricket score could be on the horizon! but conceding meant Peel would get their backs up and put us under pressure. Luckly East Perth showed their class again and why they are challenging for the title, with only 5 minutes gone in the second half Alan Harding tried to pick out Patrick (spuddly) Prodan with a ball over the top but the ball was slightly over hit, Spuddly to his credit never gave up on the ball and as the defender went to clear the ball he saw the marauding polish sausage wielding spuddly closing him down. The defender swung in hope but only managed to divert the ball over his keepers head thus scoring an absolute wonder goal with his inch perfect lob!! East Perth fell foul to not playing to the whistle when it appeared the Peel striker ran the ball out of play only to bring it back into the field of play to cross to the back post for his team mate to blast past the East Perth keeper. (the ball was at least a metre out of play!! Ask Garry Morrell!! 3-1. If East Perth switched off for a second that goal certainly switched them back on because it only took them two minutes to make it 4-1, when Dave was brought down in the box, up stepped Jimmy to slot home the penalty, his third penalty in as many games, 100% record. Next up was the bomber show, only introduced two minutes previously Ciaran Byrne raced up the left wing shrugging off defenders like a penguin bouncing off a charging rhino, his cross was inch perfect for man of the match Shane Brennan who neatly slotted into the bottom corner with the outside of the boot. The boys were now playing with smiles across their faces and didnt want the game to end!!! It was 6-1 minutes later, same man Shane Brennan getting on the end of a Darragh Jein cross to finish smartly. East Perth saw out the game and already have Perth dream in there sights next weekend at home then relishing a final day showdown against the local neighbours and mummys boys Bayswater city!!!
