Click here to apply for the Payroll Specialist position Reporting to the payroll supervisor, the Payroll Specialist is a full-time, non-exempt employee who performs all duties associated with generating Peets multi-state payroll checks in an accurate and timely manner, garnishment processing and off cycle manual checks. Provide a analytical and reporting backup function within the department. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily/Ongoing Responsibilities •Processes garnishment and wage levies. Responds to agencies, provides the employee notification of levy, creates the garnishment file folder, inputs garnishments into the HR/Payroll system, sends Accounts Payable a garnishment file for check processing and distributes the checks to the garnishing agencies. •Manages the busy payroll inbox including processing off cycle manual checks. •Researches pay check and misc. payroll discrepancies. •Processes stop payments, ACH reversals, returns and rejects. •Provides backup during absences or when needed. Biweekly Responsibilities •Assumes full responsibility for all tasks associated with processing biweekly paychecks e.g. importing and exporting data to and from the in-house payroll system, validating hours, running audit reports, inputting adjustments, calculating pay, auditing checks, verifying final hours and earnings prior to transmitting the checks, submitting the direct deposit file to the bank, tax and positive pay files to Ceridian and Wells Fargo. Runs all GL reports and downloads associated with the biweekly paycheck processing. •Assumes full responsibility for processing bonus, supplemental and adjustment payrolls and completing post payroll audits and downloads. •Assists payroll supervisor in creation and maintenance of audit systems to help minimize processing errors. •Provides the payroll supervisor GL reclass reports and back-up for miscoded earnings, deductions and taxes after each payroll. •Other responsibilities and ad hoc reporting as assigned by the payroll supervisor. Quarterly/Year End Responsibilities •Completes quarterly garnishment audit to ensure accurate system and verifies that agencies were notified of terminations. •Assists with year-end reconciliations and W2 auditing. •Other quarterly responsibilities and assigned by payroll supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: •3-4 years experience with processing payroll using an in-house system (Ultimate Software -- Ultipro preferred) •Report Writing (Cognos Business Intelligence highly preferred) •Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) •Strong math and analytical skills •Ability to work independently and has excellent time management •Strong attention to detail and prioritization skills •Excellent customer service and follow-through •Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment •Strong oral and written communication skills •Well organized self-starter We encourage applicants of all ages, races and ethnic backgrounds.
