Penance: The atmosphere suffocates on concrete, Weve used to - TopicsExpress

Penance: The atmosphere suffocates on concrete, Weve used to smother the earth. Coughing out sulfuric clouds, Hiding glimpses of the universe. Buildings rise from the rape, Covering the lights above the mountain, Testaments to our dominance, Only to be destroyed by the weather. Our nature isnt natural, Methods mingling with madness. Suspended from a lasting peace, By the pursuit of inanimate objects. When the world is broken in two, Will we see its beating heart? Or will it be a crust covered shell, Lava pouring from its mouth. Our demise is a victory, For nature will humble us, As weve made other species extinct, Now weve made ourselves. - Our bodies more frail than our work, Legacy without worth, If the scars of this planet, Bleed deep into the dirt. How can we ignore the obvious? As plain as glasses against our eyes. Enhanced by advanced technology, But losing out on our heart. Maybe we are the earth, Maybe we are the stars. Born into the bright lights, And ending up in the ground. If that is the extent of our cycle, Then I hope to feed the worms, Because the only legacy Im leaving, Is what is written in these verses. - A quick freestyle free verse poem while waiting for my washing. If you read it, hope you enjoy.
