Penang Immigration Detains 27 Foreign GROs BUTTERWORTH, July 17 (Bernama) -- The Penang Immigration Department detained 27 women from Vietnam and China who were working as guest relations officers (GROs) during a raid at an entertainment centre in Perai, here Tuesday night. Head of the Enforcement Division of the department, Basri Othman said following information received from the public and intelligence carried out, a team of 20 officers and other ranks raided the entertainment centre at 10pm. "During the raid, all the GROs tried to flee some hid in the toilet and garbage bins at the premises to avoid detention. "But quick action by the Immigration personnel enabled us to detain 15 Vietnamese and 12 Chinese women," he said at a press conference, here. He said all the women, aged between 20 and 38, were found to have abused their social visit pass to this country and some did not have any personal travel documents. Basri said a 40-year-old man, who is the owner of the entertainment centre, was also detained to assist in the investigation.
