Penn Vet New Bolton Center has a semi-feral herd of shetland-type - TopicsExpress

Penn Vet New Bolton Center has a semi-feral herd of shetland-type ponies managed by Dr. Sue McDonnell as part of the Havemeyer Behavior Lab. Pictured are the first two foals for 2014, born over the weekend. As you can see, foals born in late winter are born with winter coats. These two seem to be thriving, in spite of our recent cold and snow. They are on target behaviorally for the age of three-to-four days old and have normal weight gain, nursing patterns, and active play behavior.
