Penny is a 19 year old mare who sadly went lame while out hacking earlier this summer. After nerve blocks the cause of lameness was found to be a tear to one of the soft tissues within her left digital flexor tendon sheath. Key-hole surgery (tenoscopy) was performed to locate and remove the damaged structure. Without surgery the damaged tissue would have caused continuous inflammation within the tendon sheath causing penny to remain lame. Thankfully penny has recovered very well from her surgery and has now started light work.
