Penny updates 1/8/2015: They are getting her out to walk a couple of times daily for a couple of minutes, and although she reluctantly tries, shes appears to still be in a fair amount of pain. They are adjusting her pain medication accordingly. She DID squat and pee for them today, so that was fantastic! They are feeding her canned food which has a lot of water to rehydrate her, and hopefully help the GI tract moving again after the lengthy period under anesthesia, and the effects of the tramadol. When I asked if this is a typical response to the surgery, its really difficult to tell with the extent and complexity of her multiple injuries. It will be at least another 2-3 days before theyll even think about sending her home... but in the mean time, shes getting top notch, round the clock care and is in very good hands. Please keep Penny in your thoughts and prayers for healing and relief from pain.
