Penticton Council approves update of its MEDIA RELATIONS PROTOCOL POLICY. In it: Individual councillors are not to initiate news media contacts on behalf of the City before notifying the City Manager. Individual councillors wishing to pursue proactive media coverage on behalf of the City or Council should contact the Deputy Cicty Clerk, Communications staff for preparation of appropriate material and approval of the City Manager. Herald editor, during question period, asked Mayor Garry Litke: When does a staff member trump and elected official? Litke: Its simply a heads up. If a member of council is going to make a representation on behalf of council it gives the City Manager a chance to allow the rest of council to know this in advance.
