Penumbra is a cool word. It doesnt get nearly enough action as it should, though. You know what else doesnt get much action? MY ACTION FIGURES. I really need to get those guys some exercise. And get out my camera to record it. Im thinking Star Wars vs. Lord of the Rings here. At first youd think Star Wars would easily win with a little bit of PEW! PEW! PEW! but look, when the Nazgúl do that scream thing to disorient the stormtroopers—who werent very good shots to begin with—and Gandalf lays down some YOU SHALL NOT PASS, things get a bit more interesting. And Legolas will be pickin off dudes as fast as he can shoot. (Boba Fett vs. Legolas—I want to see that cage match.) Vader will get all up in Frodos grill and say JOIN ME AND WE CAN END THIS DESTRUCTIVE CONFLICT and Sam will bop him on the head with a frying pan, at which point Gandalf will say GO BACK TO THE PENUMBRA, and then when the Empire brings in the AT-ATs Elrond will morph into Agent Smith from the Matrix because we knew thats who he really was all along and hell turn all the Imperial troops into copies of him, and like I was saying, penumbra is a cool word. Very evocative.
