People I remember in order from their deaths and that I really remember or should have known if I was older. Longest post ever!!! My grandpa John Longley who I never really knew but I knew he was a great man (He died of cancer when I was about 1), My grandpa John Druk in 1984 ( I am happy he made it to my graduation party that year, He would have my cousin Deanna, Danny, and myself in stiches all of the time. Jason Davis from Channel 5 interviewed him once in his later years and my grandpa would pound a nail through a board with his hand at the Upholstery shop. Jason Davis ended the interview with However if you need to put a nail into a board, I recommend this as he held up a hammer. Knut Straum (He was a good friend and perhaps the funniest person I have ever met. We had so much fun together with him and Tom Treichel you wouldnt believe it), There was a North Stars game where Dan and Knut said they were going to cheer every goal. I was sitting on the other side of the rink but YES!!! After the Devils scored there were Dan and Knut jumping around. That was funny as heck. Ken Curtis (He was a second dad to me, I spent almost every day after work when I worked in Cambridge at his and Mary Lous house. The greatest golf shot I have ever seen was when he hit a ball so far over the green into the woods but it hit a tree and shot back onto the green a few feet from the hole. He said thats the way he drew it up). His son Dan passed away a few years ago and Dan was a damn funny guy as well and pretty cool because he collected baseball cards. I remember Dan coming home once in the early morning when I was over at the house in the mid 80s and his four by four truck was just caked in mud. Mary Lou said What the heck did you do, Meanwhile Ken was just smiling knowing that he would have done the same thing if he was driving the vehicle. My Cousin Greg Longley (Was a great cousin. I used to love to go over to Al and Kathys and hang out with Greg and Brian and a lot of the time Christa would be there too. Good times). His boy Cody is a clone of him in looks. My Dad (Died in 2005. I was at the horse track with Bob Hawkinson and heard the saddest news of my life when Darrin Hansen called and said only in the way he could...DADA is dead. He and everyone of Ronnies friends called my dad DADA). We once wanted to go to Canada when we were kids so my dad drove us all to Thunder Bay and then to Fort Frances. I remember my dad asking for a map at a gas station in Canada and asking. Do you have a map of your states up here? Now that was funny stuff!!! Mike Druk (My dads uncle). He along with my Grandpa formed Druk Upholstery in North Minneapolis. Going to Druk Upholstery was always great. We would sweep his floor for a few bucks and we would go down the block to the 7/11 and get a Big Gulp and baseball cards. I was happy that I went to his new place in NE Minneapolis and BSd with him a bit a few weeks before he died. He would be at his work virtually ever day of the year. They used to get card games together and play on the cutting table. One time early in the morning a MTC Bus driver stopped his bus outside and knocked on the door about 5 in the morning. He said I have been driving by here for hours and looked in the window every time I drove by wishing I was part of the fun. My Grandma Longley. About two years ago I lost my Grandma Longley. She told many great stories. She loved the Democrats and when she worked at Honeywell Vice President Mondale came shook her hand and she told Dan and myself later that day that she was never going to wash her hand again. She said she was proud that she got to vote for Roosevelt. There was nothing better than going to John and Barbs summer place north of Alexandria and waking up to the laughter of my Grandma and others. She was always independent and was driving until her late 80s. My Grandma Druk. Last year my Grandma Druk passed away. I was happy however that both of my Grandmas lived so many years by themselves and for so long. I would call my uncle Dick many times and say guess where I am going. He would say Pancakes. Dang I loved my grandmas pancakes!!! Best ever!!! She told me one of the first dirty jokes ever when I was like 7 or 8. She said Knock Knock. I said Who is there. She said Bisquick. I said Bisquick who. She said Bisquick your pants are on fire. I am guessing she was making pancakes on that day as well. I was a trouble maker as a kid and the only bad word my Grandma would ever say was Dammit anyways anytime I screwed up when I was a kid. Unfortunately I heard her say that a lot. HAHAHAHA My Aunt Jeanne Winjum. She unfortunately recently passed away. When I was about 3 my Aunt and Uncle moved to Skagway, Alaska and she and my Uncle John stayed there the rest of their lives. They moved to Bethel, Naknak, Barrow, and to Wasilla. My uncle John passed away about 10 years ago I think. He was a Police Chief for the Northern Borough of Alaska for many years. The size of Iowa and Minnesota put together. When I was a kid and it was Christmas and Jeanne would call to say Merry Christmas to my Grandma and Everyone I would always want to talk to her. However it would usually be the same thing. How is the weather up there? HAHAHA Her voice was so unique especially for someone from this area originally. Jeannes voice would be slower and almost southern but I used to like to hear her talk. It was great to see her at my uncle Johns in Big Lake a couple of years back. I know there were more and to those that I missed I am sorry but these people were the most influential in my life and I wish they all were back as I miss the heck out of them.
