People Just Dont Care About People Anymore? Today one of my customers ( elderly woman ) said something very profound. What caused her to say what she said was a man who look to be in his early sixties with a back pack. The kind that people who climb mountains or hike through jungles would carry. But this man did not look like someone who would climb mountains or hike through jungles. He looked and smelled like someone whos been out on the streets for a very long time ( homeless ). The elderly woman said to me that lately she has seen many men and women like this man and wondered how they come to be destitute. If seems to me that she was close to tearing up while she spoke. She said I dont understand, I just dont understand why people should be homeless. Especially with all the empty houses every where. I said that I knew what she was talking about and that I remember a time when even homeless people had housing in State ran shelters and Salvation Army ran Flop houses. That I to dont remember ever seeing so many people hauling back packs and bags of stuff. And I dont ever remember seeing an elderly homeless person in their 60s. She ended up saying the opening phrase of this post. People Just Dont care About People Anymore. How sad is that for an elderly person who has seen maybe the best of times to witness the worst of times.
