People Power - Transport Canada staff hear us, even in the Minister doesnt - yet. Hello Neighbours and Friends, and ALL Lower mainland people. Friend Pattie Petrala and I will be taping a short interview for the Harpreet Singh Show on JOY TV Thursday morning Keeping you aware of our issue and progress! Facilitating the community energy and outrage for the Rally’s, plus the Petition and engaging the community to speak up by email, phone, face book and more has been time consuming yet satisfying as we have made an impact: 1. WE Got the west beach access gate and lock removed 2. WE Got a public forum with Council, it’s internal Rail Task Force and MLA’s plus guests to learn more . . . and got 20 minutes to share and more vehicles/networks to keep talking 3. NOW WE got silence for night time! More yet to do – we won’t go away! The BNSF letter says whistling will STOP along the promenade from 10 PM to 7 AM Enjoy your sleep! Got home from meeting communty late tonight get a copy of the BNSF Registered Mail July 9th, 2013 Notice and Order - pdf Attached. Thanks Hanna and Patsy! – EXTRACT - for Mile Post 121.0 to 123.0 : Signage +; train movement will issue repetitive success of SHORT horn blasts; both directions from 7 am and 22:00; whistling protocol remains OUTSIDE the hours (7:00 am to 22:00) – I understand protocol to mean a the toot IF there is an animal or person on tracks overnight. So – People will be able to sleep again – I expect that the engineers on the trains will also verbally hear feedback from the community the staff got about how they TOOT to scare people on Promenade must cease as well. So Team work and community engagement compounded with everyone’s efforts has made a difference. Yes – we can celebrate, yet remain vigilant. We need to resolve the hazardous goods and ideally relocation, as the freight route has out-lived its welcome. People would rather experience TRAILS than rails along the Semiahmoo Peninsula. TRANSPORT Canada has MORE to do!! All people in the Lower mainland come to enjoy our ocean and beach year round – thus OTHERS can also remain connected and speak up. Stay in touch and others may contact me if interested
