People are proud of armies. What do armies do - turn men/women from normal people into people trained specifically to kill. It doesnt matter if they kill to defend their country, or to invade a country they still kill. Lets go back further, the first tribe to be attacked by a rival tribe had to fight back. But if the first tribe hadnt resorted to violence then neither would the other! So basically: we should never have gotten to the point where were happy that our countries train people to be killing machines. Thats some major hubris right there. Dont get me wrong though - I understand WHY armies do what they do but still... Also, I am proud of what people have done in service of their countries. My dad was in the Marine Corps. so if I hated all military Id hate him and thatd be hypocritical. At the end of the day, violence says I dont have the necessary brains to solve this problem so Im going to resort to violence. and until the day man no longer needs violence Ill support my military albeit reluctantly.
